This is a new Permanent Magnet Generator for use in Water Generation Projects designed by Motenergy, Inc. It is rated at 500 watts (240 VAC) at 1000 rpm, and up to 1,000 watts (480 VAC) at 2000 rpm. Motenergy Part Number ME1211.
The product has a stainless steel shaft and an aluminum hub (included in box) that is designed to fit the Motenergy ME0903 Pelton Water Wheel. The output is 3-phase, Y-connected AC, and it can be converted to DC with the use of a Charge Controller or 3-phase Bridge Rectifier. It has a 7/8 Inch diameter shaft with a 3/16" key way.
Pelton Wheel is not included with this Auction.
The output is set for over 3 amps AC per phase, which means you can get 4 amps DC from a 3-phase bridge rectifier. This is a continuous 4 Amps DC, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. There are two windings on the alternator. The second winding is labeled D-D in the drawing below, and good for about 30 watts to run 12VDC lamps or indicator lights.
This unit cannot be directly connected to appliances. It does not provide 120 VAC, 60 Hz, single phase power directly, nor does it provide 240 VAC, 50 Hz, single phase power. If you want to power standard household appliances, then you need to have a battery bank and inverter, or you need an Inverter that will accept 200-500 VDC and use a 3-phase Bridge Rectifier at the output of the generator. Many people use these generators to run AC in their homes as part of a complete Hydro Energy system (the generator is only one part of the system).
The 3-phase voltage (A-B-C) is set to provide 120 VAC at 500 rpm and 250 watts. At 2000 rpm, you will get 480 VAC and 1,000 watts. The fan works best when the generator is run in the Clockwise direction, looking at the shaft. This is a 12 magnet, 12 pole, (6 pole pair) rotor, so the output frequency is calculated as Speed in RPM/60 * 6.
It has very little cogging torque which means it will provide power with very little water pressure. The magnets are Ceramic and can run at very high temperatures, unlike Neodymium magnets that are only rated for 300-350 F.. This is an air-cooled generator.
There is a water seal on the shaft, and the mounting face has plenty of area to put a gasket or RTV sealant. Note that this is an Outer-Rotor design. The shaft and outer-rotor spins, and the center stator (coils) remains stationary. The generator diameter is 204 mm (about 8 inches). It can be mounted with 4 bolts, 5/16-18 on a 3.75 inch bolt circle. (Bolts not included)
This generator can also be used for wind turbine projects. This generator should not be purchased for Perpetual Motion machines or "Over Unity" machines. The Pelton Wheel is not part of this auction and it is not sold with this generator.
The Pelton Wheel ME0903 is mounted to the generator by 4 M5 bolts (not included). There is a separate eBay listing for the wheels. This Generator can be used for other projects due to the low cost.
