Pelton Water Wheel Turbine, Aluminum, Micro Hydro Generator

Part Number ME0903 from Motenergy, Inc.  This is a new Pelton-type water wheel for Hydro-Electric generation projects.  It measures 8.03 inches in diameter (204 mm).  It has 12 die-cast aluminum cups that are bolted to a center hub.  The hub has a hole in the center with a diameter of 0.786 inches (20 mm), and 8 additional 0.193 inch (5 mm) holes on a 1.38 inch (35 mm) bolt circle. This water wheel is brand new and in the original box. This Pelton Wheel comes with an Adapter Hub for a 7/8 inch diameter generator shaft (3/16-inch keyway).  For larger shafts, simply drill-out the center hole in the Aluminum Hub. This is an Aluminum Wheel made for long life, not Plastic. Each "cup" has an outside diameter is 1.820 inches (46 mm). The inside diameter is 1.460 (37 mm), and the total height is .700 inches (17.8 mm). The deepest part of the cup is about 0.400 inches (10.1 mm). For larger diameter wheels, simply make a larger center hub and bolt the cups to the new hub. The nozzle should be located about 3.5 inches from the center of the wheel, tangent to the diameter. This will provide the most torque and power. To mount the Pelton Wheel to a Generator, here are some ideas. 1) You can purchase the ME1016 Permanent Magnet Generator from Motenergy.  See our other listing.  This Generator comes with the mounting hub to attach the wheel directly to the shaft of the generator using 4 x M5 bolts. 2) You can purchase a solid coupler from McMaster Carr or Grainger.  If you purchase a coupler with a large diameter, where one end fits your generator and the other end has a large diameter, then you can drill holes in the coupler to mount the wheel. 3) You can purchase a Pulley from a local hardware store that fits on your generator.  Then put the water wheel over the pulley, and mark the location of 4 to 8 holes.  In other words, use the Pelton wheel as a template to drill holes in the face of the pulley.
